۱- Tesla will build a manufacturing plant in Shanghai’s free-trade zone after reaching a deal with the the city’s government, The Wall Street Journal reports; the automaker won’t partner with a local manufacturer, as is customary there; instead, it will own the plant itself in an unprecedented arrangement; first confirmed the talks to build the factory in June.
۲- Bitcoin’s value reaches a record high of more than $6k; had experienced a dip earlier in the week amid concerns about tighter regulations on cryptocurrencies; ultimately climbed more than $500 in value in the two days since; has experienced a 500 percent gain in 2017.
۳- Lyft raises $1B for $11B post-valuation led by Alphabet’s growth investment fund, CapitalG (Partner David Lawee joins board); the company recently completed its 500 millionth ride; service is now available to 95 percent of the US population, up from 54 percent at the beginning of the year; has raised more than $3.6B to date.
۴- Storytelling platform Wattpad (iOS, Android) is raising $50M led by Tencent, The Globe and Mail reports; the round reportedly values the company at around $400M; Wattpad enables users to publish, share, and discover user-generated fiction; short stories, novels, and other formats are categorized according to genre.
۵- Database provider MongoDB shares jump 30 percent on first day of trading; the company set a range of $20 to $22 per share, but ultimately priced at $24; shares spiked immediately after market open; the company raised $192M with the offering – Link

۶- Curated fashion shopping company Stitch Fix files for IPO; paperwork indicates a $100M raise target, but that is likely a placeholder; a user fills out a style profile and the company sends five items; the customer keeps and pays for preferred items, returns the rest; will debut on Nasdaq under symbol SFIX; has raised $54.5M to date.
۷- Collaborative online documents company Coda launches in private beta with $60M raised over two rounds that included Greylock, General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, NEA, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers; provides a word processor and spreadsheet app; integrates with other apps and services; for instance, a user can add Google Maps directions to a file.
۸- Email marketing company SendGrid files for IPO; claims its platform has processed more than 1T emails; generated $80M in revenue last year, up from $58.5M in 2015; raised $80M to date.
۹- App security company Contrast Security raises $30M Series C led by Battery Ventures; platform provides security tools for development and deployment processes, and enables apps to self-protect; raised $54M to date.
