۱- Waymo’s driverless ride-share vans will begin to operate without a safety driver present in Phoenix in the next few months; the service will initially be available for free to a select group of testers; the company will ultimately launch a paid service available to the general public.

۲- Chinese media company Jinri Toutiao attempted to buy Reddit last year, according to sources for The Information; the companies were unable to agree to terms with Reddit shareholders, including Condé Nast; Toutiao’s offering included private stock, which was difficult to value.

۷- China-based local services group Meituan-Dianping is considering a US IPO as early as next year, according to Reuters sources; the report suggests the firm could raise at least $3B in a public listing; Meituan-Dianping operates a range of businesses including restaurant reviews and group discounts; raised $7.3B to date.

۸- Singapore-based retail rewards startup ShopBack raises $25M Series A led by Credit Saison with participation from Blue Sky and others; the firm offers consumer discounts and cash-back deals from a number of partners across Southeast Asia; raised $40M to date.

۹- UK-based games developer Mojiworks raises $2.7M Series A led by Balderton Capital with participation from Lifeline Ventures and Sunstone Capital; the startup is developing several titles to be played via Facebook Messenger.
